I suggest really learning about how your supervisor is when it comes to flexibility and expectations because some departments are extremely strict while others are more flexible. Pay could be WAY better (starting rate was only $15.75/hr with a bachelors) but it is also one of the only places in Asheville to get lab experience outside of hospitals, so there isn't much competition to offer higher pay. I worked with some really great people which made my time enjoyable, but during COVID most of the people that had been there for many years were furloughed and then never brought back on leaving most of the departments with new, less experienced employees. No raises or 401k match while I was there and this had been the situation for the years before I was hired as well. Almost everyone disapproves of the CEO and there is a lack of respect for the entire upper management team. Department expectations and culture vary by your supervisor and mine was one of the best. I had a great experience at Genova, but that was greatly due to the department that I worked in.
